What is an Epidemic?

An Epidemic is a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease or problem in a community. Epidemics affect many people in an area or population at the same time. HIV, STI, Viral Hepatitis and Substance Use Disorder are all examples of epidemics. These particular issues affect the same populations in the same areas of the state. The five cities with the highest incidence are; Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, Stamford and Waterbury.
